Doc Savage

1-5

I had enjoyed the Doc Savage reprints from Bantam Books even as I enjoyed Marvel Comics. So did Roy Thomas. He secured the rights for Marvel but ran out of time to write the book and handed it off to me. Adapting pulp stories was a lot of fun, and I got some great Jim Steranko covers and Ross Andru-Tom Palmer interiors.

But as more and more original material came my way, I went with that and bailed on doing adaptations.

NOTES:

5: Plotted by me, scripted by Gardner Fox.

The DC reprint has got to be one of the weirdest books ever. Everything about it is exactly what was printed in the originals, meaning it is a stone-cold Marvel Comic from the '70s - with a DC logo.
